Problem: Roxio Creator LE - Dell Edition

I have new pc – I did full files backup (Roxio Sonic Solutions Creator LE Dell Edition) after installation without a problem.

Just gone to do a new backup – problem!

Seems to be a problem reading/ loading the blank disk into E:drive.

In Windows Explorer I have loaded different types of disks into E:drive:

-         music cd – ok on 2nd try

-         cd-r with data on – ok on 3rd try

-         blank cd-r – can’t be sure it loads as “My Computer” shows “DVD-RW Drive E:” – if I double click on it, it’s empty

In Roxio I have loaded different types of disks into E:drive:

-         music cd – it recognises the contents

-         cd-r with data on – it recognises the contents

-         blank cd-r – it cannot recognise the contents

When I put any cd-r into E:drive it seems definitely slow (and even sounds “strange” as it tries to read it).

I don’t know if it’s a hardware problem (E:drive itself) or software (Roxio Creator) and I definitely don’t know what to do next.

Appreciate any help as always. Many thanks…

What would you expect the computer to read when you put in a blank disk? Using Windows Explorer or Roxio, with nothing on the disk, what contents do you expect see?

Ken - it's not a contents issue, but normally "My Computer" will tell you when it has a blank cd put in. ie.

DVD-RW Drive (E: )       CD Drive

becomes

CD Drive (E: )                 CD Drive        700mb

E. drive does not recognise blank or data cd's.

I have now posted this thread as a hardware issue - it seems I have a loose cable to e:drive or faulty drive. The burner program itself works normally.

Thanks for your help. ticolico
