Problem with Dell system

A problem has occured where by at some point while the computer is running and even on occasions start up, that the screen goes blank but the power supply is still running into the computer as the indicator light is still green. However, it is not a case that there is a poor connection to the monitor or graphics card as the computers processes have stopped also. For example if music was being played when this situation happens it would stop aswell. I don’t believe this to be a hardware problem but then I don’t have much knowledge on that subject. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks

Knowing what system you have would help. Sounds like your system is going into a suspend or hibernate state. Right click on your desktop and do a properties, select the screensaver tab then the power button at the bottom of this tab. Here you will see a few more tabs "power options properties"

On the power schemes tab Drop down the system standby box and select "never" if it isn't already. Next go to the hibernate tab and make sure the "enable hibernation"  box is UN-checked. OK all the windows.
