Problem with closing of installation wizards.
Funny problem. Windows XP professional (no idea why), just got this forgotten computer up and running. Get the timed reboot error. I check for the patch that closes that security hole (the worm does not exist on this computer), and download and install. Now here's the weird part. The installation wizard comes up. 5 seconds or so later, it closes, like a popup stopper would close a popup. Result is that I'm stuck with the stupid timed reboot error until I can get the window to stay open to install the patches. I don't even know why it's closing.
I also have this problem with Norton Antivirus' setup screen. That too disappears so I also have no virus protection. Any help and/or explanation appreciated.

I sent this along to Dell as well. They told me to run MSconfig and disable evrything upon startup. I tried to do that, but MSconfig also has the 10 second problem.
Help?
