Problem with games crashing with windows 7 64bit

Question

Hey I am trying to play a old game Age of Empires II The Conquerors, but every time I go to play it crashes out after the splash loading screen. My event viewer gives me this as the error. There is a separate 'gaming' section on the forum.  However, try running the game in a Windows XP compatibility mode and see if that helps.  Some older games won't run in the native Windows 7 (or Vista) model.  RIGHT click on the icon for the program and then LEFT click on Properties.  Click on the Compatibility tab in the panel and then set it for Windows XP (SP2 or SP3) compatibility and see if that helps. If this is not the answer, repost on the Gaming Section
