Problems moving files old hard drive converted into external drive on to internal drive

Hello, I just bought a new dell inspirion 530. I have taken my hard drive from my dimension 8250 and turned it into an external hard drive. I am trying to take pictures and other files from this external hard drive and put them on to my internal drive of my new computer. The issue I am having is that when i try to transfer the files i am told that I do not have permission. I can't even view them. I have gone to a couple individual pictuers and went to the properties tab, then security tab, and assigned myself as the owner and it has worked for a couple picutres. I have a lot of picutres and it would take forever if I had to do this individually. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance! PS the actual message reads "You don't currently have permission to access this folder."

I just hooked up the external drive to my macbook pro and it worked flawlessly!  Darn Vista!

You need to take ownership of the folders in question

One of the advantages of a Mac, it totally ignores windows file properties.
