Also, one other thing to add in that I forgot on the original post is that I have not had a problem printing any types of docs on this computer until about 1 and 1/2 weeks ago. I started all of a sudden. The same docs that I was able to previously print I am no longer able to succesfully print without an error message.
I tried installing the post script driver for the printer. It still acts the same way. One additional thing I have noticed is that if I try to print the same doc twice, and the doc is one that I would normally receive an error on, it gives me a new printed message. The doc still does not print out but instead of the error printout I listed above, it prints:
Sorry about the translation. What the person in the aforementionned post was saying was that she solved the problem by NOT using the Postscript driver. Also, that German post was in reference to a Dell 1600N network printer. What printer are you using?
I have seen errors similar to the one you described occur when printing Adobe Acrobat PDF documents with graphics at 1200 dpi.
You say the error began about 11/2 weeks ago. By chance did you upgrade your Adobe Acrobat Reader?
I am using a dell 1600n printer as well. That computer, as far as I know, has not been updated with any newer versions of adobe. Even if it had, how do you suppose that would effect the printing within other applications such as Excel? Also, one last tidbit of info, we have the printer settings on each computer set to 600dpi instead of 1200 dpi.
Of course, none of these quite explain why your system suddenly went to printing weirdly. Just a thought, but have you considered changing the hub port to which the problem machine is connected?
You've probably already downloaded the 1600N driver update, but here it is:
Finally, have you considered using System Restore to restore your system to a date prior to the problem's occurrence?

Dominicebbtide,
Apparently, this is caused by a postscript driver. See (translated version) the following page: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.pcwelt.de/forum/drucker/148668-dell-1600n-netzwerkdrucker-mit-problemen.html&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3DVersion%2B:%2BQPDL%2B1.24%2B02-27-2004%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26sa%3DG

Dominicebbtide,
So far, I can't find much to help you. Seems like numerous Dell1600N and Samsung SCX-4100 printers have similar problems. One Samsung owner stated that installing the scan driver fixed the problem for him. A Dell owner noted this post regarding remote installation of network drivers: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?docid=DCED73C23A5D2197E030A68F27282CDE&c=us&l=en&s=dhs Dell suggests installing the driver from the CD only.
