Problems with Media Player 11, please help

Hi there.

I have a XPS 420 with Vista Home Premium.

The problem is that when i turn off the Media Player 11.0 the player window gets closed but the player keeps on working (playing music or video). It's very annoying, i have to restart the media player and then press the stop button and close the program.

Anyone has the same problem or ony clue what can I do?

thanks in advance and happy holidays for all the Dell comunity.

I have the same "issue", but I don't know if it is a WMP 11, Vista, or Dell xps 420 "Issue" or "Feature" ?

Ok, it's not WMP, the 420 or any software problem.

In fact it's not a problem but rather a feature that is sometimes misinterpreted.

What happens when you close WMP is it keeps playing the songs or videos because of the MINIVIEW feature. The miniview is actually playing the song. Meaning, you can can play other songs, or open and close the songs via the little screen on the desktop.

If you wish this to stop, just click START, under START SEARCH type SIDESHOW, select SIDESHOW (or it might say SIDESHOW PROPERTIES) and then deselect WMP from the MINIVIEW options. This will stop this. Once you do this if you close WMP then the music or video will cease immediately.

Just remember that once you deselect WMP from the sideshow options you will not be able to access WMP from the miniview screen. I like it as it's easier to open and close songs via the miniview screen while I am gaming, rather than alt-tabbing back and forth.

PS...If you already have WMP deselected in the sideshow properties and this problem persists, than ignore everything I just said.
