Question: How can I get rid of the Operating System Choice Menu at boot up?
I just reinstalled my new Dell Dimension 5150 OS by formating all of the C drive into one partition. However, during my boot up now, a Operating System Choice Menu appears, and I have to choose to boot the new OS everytime. If I choose the old OS, nothing happens. Is there a way to eliminate this annoying choice menu?
Many thanks in advance!

Go to Start|Run, enter msconfig and click OK. On the BOOT.INI tab click "Check all boot paths." One boot path will be identified as inoperable and you can delete it at that time. This will result in the warning message when you next restart that you have made a change in Msconfig. Click the "Do not display this message again" box to prevent the nag from appearing with each start.

If it says both boot paths are legitimate, you would have to remove the partition that you aren't booting to from the boot.ini file using notepad. However, I DO NOT reccomend this as you can severely damage your boot configuration if you don't do it correctly.
What you can do instead, is launch the System Configuration Utility by typing msconfig in the Run box. Then go to the Boot.ini tab. and setting the timeout to 3 seconds (the lowest it will go). You will still get the screen when booting, but it will only last three seconds.
