Re-installing Windows XP Home Edition on my Dell Inspiron 6000

I recently received advice on re-installing windows back to the factory status. I depressed F8 when the Dell logo appeared but unfortunately id didnt give any "option to repair computer". It only gave option to go into Safe mode or load up windows at latest settings etc Can any further advice be offered? I am most grateful.

Thanks in anticipation

Gerry

Systems delivered with Windows XP, use CTRL/F11 at power on to access the Dell Recovery Partition (if the PC has this).

iirc with my old 6000 you had to make your own dell xp cd and the system didn't come with a restore partition.

I am just saying my opinion. Don't use windows XP repair because it does nothing for you. I did it many times but my windows didn't repair. So i had to install new fresh windows.
