Re-loading OS issure

Question

I'm following a suggestion on how to get rid of the Error 800B0100 issue and 'upgrading my OS'. My computer is at the 'Completing upgrade' point, and though it says this could take several hours, it's been 5. I'm just wondering how long is several? My mouse can't move my cursor so my system appears to be locked up. The progress bar is about 2/3 complete and hasn't moved for hours.   I just want to know if anybody has any experience with this?
