Generally, if a program will not uninstall because a file (or files) is missing, if you reinstall that program it will restore whatever files are missing then you can uninstall it. Maybe that is what's wrong with the original Dell installed version of Sonic - a file or files missing and causing problems andn a reinstall would have taken care of it.
The problem you are having is not uninversal or a known problem - you are the only one tht I've seen post with the particular problem. Did you try posting the problem on the CD/DVD section of the forum? (the place for CD/DVD issues).
