Recording radio program

I would like to use the computer to tape programs from the radio (either real or internet radio). Preferably I would like to set a timer to start recording the program for a specified amount of time. If necessary, I could plug into the micro jack a cable from the earphones jack of a real radio, but I would prefer to record from an internet broadcast. What type of softward would do the job?
