Recovering Cut Bookmark Folder

Question

I run Windows XP in a Dimesion E310 desktop. Attempting to reorganize some Bookmarks I highlighted the target folder, went to the Edit tab and Cut the folder, intending to Paste it elsewhere. Somehow the folder I had cut did not paste; instead the paste was some wording from a dialog box that had surfaced after I cut the folder but before I attempted the paste. I don't remember the wording in the dialog box, or what I was doing that caused it to display, nor exactly what I did to make it go away. I didn't knowingly Cut the wording from the dialog box but that seems to be what happened. Any suggestions on how I might recover that Bookmark folder? It did not show up in the Recycle bin. Thanks

Do a system restore to a date before this happened.
