The procedure referenced does make a "recovery partition" but it is not the same as the Dell OEM recovery partition.    However, one point to think about, if the hard drive physically fails, there is no way to "recover" - your only option is to buy a new hard drive and do a complete new install.

As you should be doing periodic backups of the PC anyway, the best option is to backup the entire hard drive to a separately connected hard drive and use a program such as Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost (I use and recommend Acronis True Image to my clients).  Either way, just a hard drive corruption or a complete hard drive failure, you can still "recover" using the backup from the external drive.

Hi, Even if you were to make the partition, and get the Folders needed to make the Recovery Partition. You will have problems linking up the F8 command in Vista to operate the recovery partition, or the CTRL + F11 in XP.
