Reinstall drivers and utilities

I recently had to remove all programs and start over on my Inspirion 5150 due to bad little boys using the internet.  Does anyone know how I can get another copy of the ResourceCD for this system? Or what files I need to download and reinstall?  I can download the files from another computer I have, but need to know which one and in which order.  Thanks!

When you state that you had to remove all programmes and start over do you mean that you reinstalled the operating system?

The full list of available drivers and downloads for your 5150 is available on the link below. Not all drivers that are on the list need to be downloaded; your download needs will depend on the actual hardware that is installed in your laptop.

What I did was reinstalled the Windows XP, which wiped out everything on the hard drive in the process.  In looking at the list of downloads, how do I know which display device driver, IDE and EIDE driver, network driver and Removable Media Storage Devices drivers to install?  Is there a certain order that these files should be installed? Thanks for the help!

start with the chipset driver followed by a dell file called NotebookSystemSoftware.  after that it's pretty much up to you, although getting the video driver, audio driver, and network driver are usually my next choices (cause I like good resolution, need music, and usually need to download new files following a reinstall).

oh, and download those windows critical updates as soon as humanly possible.  the same goes for SP2.  do NOT connect to the internet without windows firewall (or some other firewall) turned on.  SP2 does this for you, prior to that, you'll need to enable it yourself

To see the original hardware configuration of your laptop, put your service tag into the box in the link below. This will assist you in deciding which drivers you need to download.

btw unless it were using an external monitor you will not need to download any of the display drivers.
