Reinstalled SP2 from Microsoft CD: Log
(SP2 originally downloaded through dial-up connection)
1. noticed that in Security Center, panel under
Virus Protection, with recommendations button, has disappeared (could there be other components of SP2 that have been damaged in computer?)
2. search
SP2 problems on Google, find that someone has reported that installing SP2 from Microsoft CD is better than from download
3. I uninstall SP2 through
Control Panel Removing Programs.
4. restart; video is very low resolution; computer reports
video driver is for older version of Windows; run Norton Windoctor to clean up uninstall
5. install SP2 by Microsoft SP2 CD I ordered online; restart
6. reinstall video card software; connect to internet, where receive unknown update from Symantec for SystemWorks 2004 (maybe to repair some files damaged in the uninstall?)
7. internet does not connect easily; can connect to Juno.com home page, not to Windows Media Player radio and other sites; try again later, success!; internet connection normal
8. ATI Catalyst Control Center, 4.10 driver all normal
9. Play Half-Life, normal (nominal?)
10. Security Center is also back to normal

I have had issues with IE since installing SP2....and only IE. All other programs seem to work fine, tons of javascript issues. I fixed most, but there are still a few left. Like IE completely locking up anytime I visit www.microsoft.com or http://www.cs.amedd.army.mil/obc/
I was wondering if it is possible to reinstall SP2 via the disk. Do I have to uninstall the previous version or could I just try reinstalling it over the top and seeing if that fixes the issue?
