No, the Dell installation disc is not specific to a machine.
Did you install your wireless network driver? Did you install the chipset FIRST? At what point is the connection to your linksys failing? Does it SEE the linksys network but just cannot connect? Or can it not even see it?
Check Device Manager for any UNKNOWN devices ... right-click My Computer, Manage.
