Resolve slow internet speed when video calling using skype.
I am asking for help to resolve the Skype video call failing to connect and/or to stay connected due to slow internet connections. Using Skype I have verified my webcam and audio systems and OS exceed their minimum requirements are operating properly. Skype reports the problem is a slow internet connection.
I have an XPS 730X desktop connected to a Cisco Lindsys WRT160N router which is connected to the satellite high speed internet modem. What can I do to increase the connection speed to the internet?
I have run internet connectivity speed tests and found the results: 1.56 - 1.64 Mbps download speed and 0.06 - 0.10 Mbps upload speed. I also performed the speed test with the router bypassed by connecting the computer directly to the satellite modem and similar results.
I have run the Dell PC Checkup to verify the computer is operating and running fine. All other software works ok. I can download and watch video movies with no problem. It just seems that real time video streaming fails to run properly.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I hesitate to change my ISP provider because high speed internet is available only via satellite at my location and I hesitate buying new equipment not knowing if doing so would solve the problem.

The very slow upload internet speed is most likely the problem. You need a lot faster upload speed for reliable video operation. That slow speed is OK for minimal data. I don't know anyone, that has had the Hughes satellite service that was happy with it.
