Retrieving Dell System Recovery tool

Question

Recently I bought Dell Inspiron 6000, it came with 80GB HDD in one partition, I resized it and create another primary partition to keep all my data on it, leaving the other partition for operating system, every thing went ok, till I faced problem while installing new software, I tried to use Dell restore facility to restore my computer software back to how it was when first received it.

But the following error message appears:

The Dell system recovery tool has detected an unsupported change in your master boot record. The tool cannot run at this time. Please call Dell technical support for assistance.

Please can you help me to fix and retrieve this tool back to be able to return to original PC configuration

mohka, If you have not eliminated the restore partition you may be able to recover the restore capability with the procedures given here.

'But the following error message appears: The Dell system recovery tool has detected an unsupported change in your master boot record.'   That's because your current partition table is out of sync with the backup reference the system recovery tool compares to.   In most cases you can use my dsrfix utility, which you can download from the link Denny gave you.  It will refresh the partition table backup reference so DSR stays happy.  Dsrfix must be run from DOS, so if you did not get a floppy drive with your I6000, you'll need to improvise by using a bootable flash disk or creating a bootable CD.  This is not a trivial task, so if you're not sure you understand what you're doing, you should enlist the help of a technically adept friend.   Note that after fixing DSR, it will not undo your repartitioning.  Running DSR will replace your OS partition back to 'as-shipped' contents, but your extra partition will still be intact.
