RunDLL exception error in Win XP

I am getting a message "RunDLL exception when downloading: C:\windows\system32\btiein.dll,Download"

I have tried running spybot to clear the popup ads and installed the most recent Win XL service pack but every time I attempt to get a page while on the internet, I get this annoying message.

Hope someone has an idea.

Thanks,
m.sams

m.sams,

This is a "hijacker" and its from H***!

This is a website that is helpful but the instructions are so hard to get accomplished that I just flat out reinstalled a os for someone who had this..it was a nightmare getting that hijacker off the puter. Maybe you will do better than I did. This person needed a reinstall anyway..her registry was so corrupt load time was horrible, so the timing was right.

I had the same problem but followed the advice of Temerc who replied to your post with a link to Hijackthis.  I followed the instructions and it seemed to solve the problem.
