From Google search----Uninstall Spyware Doctor (if installed) see if that cures it. If not, uncheck the MS update that ends in 711, reboot, and check. That's all I found.....

I found a post on CNET which solved a problem identical to one you descibe in relation to Runtime Error 226. Quote from post:

"...please try installing the Visual Basic Runtime files from the link below:

Service Pack 6 for Visual Basic 6.0: Run-Time Redistribution Pack (vbrun60sp6.exe)

No guarantees, but it's worth a shot."

It worked for me...
