Runtime Error! msiexec.com

Question

I'm getting this RUNTIME ERROR!    Program:  C:\WINDOWS\System32\msiexec.exe    MSIEXEC.EXE APPLICATION ERROR     The exception unknown software exception (0x40000015)  occurred in the application at location 0x7813461a   Click OK to terminate the program Click Cancel to debug     I can't seem to resolve it.  I've run System Mechanic 6 on it and no luck.  It comes up for no unknown reason on this NEW DELL COMPUTER.   1) How do I know what PROGRAM is causing this error?  Is it some application/program I need to uninstall and reinstall?   How do I identify the real culprit?????   Thanks,   Message Edited by RCawthorn on 08-03-200610:44 AM

I too am getting Runtime Errors. I just purchased E520 Dimension PC. I imported my files via PC Mover. When I restarted I immediately got a Runtime Error message, which I tried to ignore (foolish). I deleted the Norton Internet Security package and reinstalled a new Norton package but the installation failed mid-way through followed by the following:

RUNTIME ERROR!

Program: C:\\WINDOWS\System32\msiexec.exe

MSIEXEC.EXE APPLICATION ERROR
The exception unknown software exception (0x40000015) occurred in the application at location 0x7813461a

Click OK to terminate the program
Click Cancel to debug

I clicked to debug, deleted the Norton start-up, reinstalled it, and failed yet again.

What's the matter? Please note I am no geek at these things.
