SP2 running fine

I downloaded SP2 via Express Install from Windows Update. 10 hour download ended and finally installed at 3 am. (Knock on wood) after a few tweaks, it's running perfectly! And faster.

I'm using Windows Firewall, IE and IE pop-up blocker and FireFox. Uninstalled ZA and turned off other pop-up  blockers. Defragged and ran a registry cleaner and compactor.

Good to hear. 10-hour download is insane though, I got mine in half an hour with DSL.

I heard ZoneAlarm is big trouble for SP2... you should uninstall it before upgrading, I guess they might have released a newer version already but still, I'd prefer anything but the Windows Firewall. Microsoft's added it to Windows so that regular dial-up home users have good protection, but Norton Internet Security or Personal Firewall, or even ZA are better with a lot more features.

And Firefox - the bomb. Some sites still are better on IE (like this board for example), but 99% of webpages work great with Firefox, which is much faster, has tabbed browsing and hundreds of ways of changing it and expanding it. My favorite are the All-In-One Mouse Gestures.

Yeah and for anyone who reads this, defragmenting your hard drive is important after upgrading to SP2, since it replaced a lot of system files that might not be in the best allocation in your hard drive, which can result in a slower system.

Zone Alarm works fine with my system, SP2 was a painless update, with or without the windows firewall enabled.

Just to add my 2 cents worth...I found defrag & registry clean up helped a great deal too with performance....also performed error checking on local drive....had very sluggish performance after installing SP2 but now running fine..

Many reporting problems with performance, especially notebooks, which may be driver related...hopefully others will offer suggestions to improve performance..

Thanks
