STOP Error 0x00000024

Question

All,   I am trying to get my son's dimension running again. When we try to boot, I am getting the following message on the 'Blue Screen': 'Stop 0x00000024 (0x001901FF,0x80EA1578,0xC0000102, 0x000000000)'   The message tells me to try uninstalling anti-virus, disk defragmentor, or other type of software and re-boot but i am unable to actually get Windows started in order to do this. Can anyone tell me how to get to a DOS prompt or some way to run windows to un-install? I am a novice at this point.     Thanks in advance.

Will it boot into 'Safe Mode'??? Turn on the PC, while tapping the 'F8' button (on the top of the keyboard). Then use the up and down arroows on the keyboard to select 'Safe Mode' Hit 'Enter'

Try this link if you can boot into safe mode If not, try HERE If nothing else, a repair or fresh install of XP may be required. A fresh install will erase all of your data.
