Safe Mode

To make ScandDisk work properly, I have been advised to do a Safe Mode Boot.  I am running Windows ME.  My computer will not boot in safe mode.  I have tried holding down the CTRL key, and then the F8 key, and neither one will get me into Safe Mode.  At the screen where I think it should go into Safe Mode my system beeps and says Keyboard Error,  Fixed Disk......

Anyone know how to get around this?

Thanks,

Richard

Put a blank or non-bootable disk in your floppy disk drive.  Reboot.  When you get the error message, remove the floppy disk and hit the F8 key twice.  It should give you a menu from which you can select Safe Mode.

Steve,

Thanks, you have been very helpful.  The ScanDisk solution you gave worked.
