Saving Library of MusicMatch JukeBox

I have musicmatch jukebox basic and i have a large music collection (over 10GB) and i have all the track listings perfect and filled out and all the albums are perfectly organized. i need to reformat my hardrive due to a few factors and i do not want to lose all the library information and track information for all my songs. i am aware that i can save the library for my current music library layout, but when i reformat my hardrive, if i place all of the mp3's and music files in the same folders etc in my documents, would the library be able to recognize them and reload my music library exactly how i had it before? i would greatly appreciate any response to either this board or my email address at jgg204@lehigh.edu thanks! The MMJB Library contents are based on the ID3 tags assigned to, and saved with, each track. Any corrections you have made to the track title, artist, album, etc. are already saved with the track. Your library will rebuild the listings after reinstallation, when you add tracks to the Library, although you may need to alter the layout of the MMJB Library from the default after reinstalling the program to match the column headings you have now.

i am a little bit confused. after i reformat my hardrive and put all the mp3's back into the same folders and such in "my documents"...and i open up music match jukebox and load the saved library file that i saved from before, will it automatically load up my previous library or will i have to re-import everything? if i have to re-import everything, will i have to modify it again or will the library file do that for me?

thanks,

It's important to understand that track tag information is stored with each track, and it is normally preferable to consider this as the controlling document. The information displayed in the MMJB Library is a reflection of that stored in the track file, along with the track audio data. When a change to track tag information is applied by MMJB or any other application that can read and modify the track tag information, the file is updated. The track tag information is a property of the track, not MMJB or any other application. The information in the MMJB Library should reflect the information stored with the track, but it is not a real-time monitor of that information. It is only updated when a track is added or a track tag is modified. When a track tag is modified in MMJB, the track file is also updated.

If your backups are current, the MMJB Library created by adding those files following reinstallation will be identical to what is now displayed. If not, using Windows Explorer to save and restore the MMJB Library file, or using the Library Export/Import functions within MMJB may allow the MMJB Library to retain current and accurate track tag information with older versions of the files in question, but additional steps would be necessary to update the track tag attached to the files themselves, and neither of these methods should be considered as reliable as backing up the current track file - which includes the current track tag information.
