Scheduled Task Not Working
:smileyhappy:I have Windows XP, nothing I schedule in my 'scheduled task'....works at the time I schedule it to. I have my Nortons Anti Virus and Disk Cleanup listed in my tasks. I've deleted and added them , but when I add, I get an error message....something about 'access denied'.......any ideas how I can get my tasks to do what I want them to do, when I want them????............thanks!
Christine

dunedin,
i did the steps you posted. but it still will not run the task I schedule. when I schedule a task, a window pops up with a username, and 2 places for me to enter a password, I do that, but then I get this ---> an error has occured while attempting to set task account information the specific error is 0x80070005:access is denied, you don't have permission to perform requested operation.<------:smileyindifferent:

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Performance and Maintenance, and then click Administrative Tools.
3. Double-click Services, click the Task Scheduler service, and then click Restart the service. Wait for the Service Control progress indicator to close.
4. Close the Services window.

P.S. Are you using the AT command, or using Windows Task scheduler? If using the AT command, try using Windows Task scheduler instead. Wish I knew more.

1.Click Start, click Run, type Gpedit.msc, and then click OK.
2.Expand the following items in the Local Computer Policy list:

Are you the administrator? If you are a limited user, that might be why you cannot schedule a task.
P.S. Home edition does not have a group policy editor.
