Serious IE problems

I hope this is the right place to post this, but I wasn't really sure where else to post it. Well, I'm having really big problems with Internet explorer. Most pages have difficulty opening when I use it. What happens is I end up seeing lots of jumbled code and the graphics from the page, but no links work and frequently I can't go anywhere from there. It's really starting to frustrate me as I can manage to read my email but I can't reply to it since the send button just refuses to work. Its been like this for a couple of weeks, I've tried using a different web browser (Mozilla Firefox) and I have the same problem there, but when I open pages in AOL they usually work. I got a pop in a grey box maybe a week ago saying that I had a frames problem but I have no clue if that's what my problem is or something else. I have no clue how to fix this problem so if anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful. Oh, and the problem started shortly after I ran a spyware finding program, so I was wondering if maybe something had been deleted that shouldn't have been? And, sometimes I get a grey pop up about ActiveX settings not allowing certain sites to display properly, would that affect it too?

Please run a virus scan with the latest updates.  If a virus is not the problem, check the settings in your spyblocker to be certain you have not blocked ActiveX.  Try deactivating the spyblocker.  Look in your spyblocker to be certain that it has not removed something you need.  Since this occures with all browsers, it is not likely to be a browser problem.  Check your firewall to be certain that it is not blocking ActiveX.  Sometimes Norton can cause trouble after using SpyBot.  You can temporarily try a safe web page with the firewall deactivated to see if the firewall is the cause.  Try running both SpyBot Search and Destroy as well as Adaware to be certain all spyware has been removed.
