Setting power scheme default setting for all users
I have WinXP pro and would like to set a power scheme default that would be the same for all users. Presently, only the administrator can change the power scheme. But when I log out as Admin. and log in as a User, the Power Scheme settings are not changed... that is do not reflect the change I made as Admin.
ANY IDEAS????????

You could try the following: (This involves using RegEdt32.exe, a backup is always recommended prior to modifying the registry)
1) Modify the following registry key to the particular setting that is required:
System Key:
HKEY_USERS\.default\control panel\PowerCfg
ValueName:
CurrentPowerPolicy
Data Type:
REG_SZ(String)
Value: (Enter The Numeric Value Only)
0 - (Home/Office Desk)
1 - (Portable/Laptop)
2 - (Presentation)
3 - (Always On)
4 - (Minimal Power Management)
5 - (Max Battery)
6 - (Dell Recommended) - Available if Dell Restore/Build has been used
I can't guarantee this will work, if it does it will only affect new users logging on, not the exisiting local accounts on the computer.
(In addition, a .ADM Policy file may also have to be created so that the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\control panel\PowerCfg is modified as well. This should only be done by a person confident in creating .ADM Group Policy Templates. (If this particular Policy is created, to use it within the Windows XP enviroment, under Filtering option, the option 'Only show policy settings that can be fully managed should be deselected))
I have not not gone into detail about creating a .ADM Template, as if you can't understand it I wouldn't even recommend attempting it.
Good Luck
Mike
