Shortcut to website on desktop

  1. How do I put a shortcut to a website on my desktop.
  2. Also, when I d/l a program, there is a link next to it in the start menu to the home page. It connects when I have a browser window open. when there is no window open already, I get an error message. Is this normal behavior?

thanks in advance
Mark

1.  Open IE and go to the website you want on the desktop, now put the mouse arrow over the little icon in the address bar next to http, and click/hold drag it to the desktop.

2. Try this, see if it fixes it. By the way what is the exact error?

  • Right click Start Button
  • Select Explore
  • Click View
  • Select Folder Options
  • Select the File Types tab
  • Type U, the first entry in the list of the items beginning with "U" will appear
  • Find URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol
  • Highlight it
  • Select Edit
  • Highlight OPEN under Actions select Edit
  • In Application used to perform this action place the following path including the quotations
    • "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"
  • Note: The above is one line with a space between Internet and Explorer
  • Apply the above for each URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol
  • If the problem still persists go to Start
  • Click Run
  • Type in
    • regsrv32 urlmon.dll
  • Click OK
