Slow Performance- Too many processes running
I have a Dimension running the 98SE Op Sys and 256Mb RAM. Many times I get an error message that I have low system resources and I must close windows before I can proceed. I can see I have about 35 processes running. including Aoldial (which I don't use with my cable modem) RealPlayer (which I seldom use), a Playlist (My grandson added that; I don't use it) and various CD/DVD writing expedients.
How can I permanently eliminate the automatic launch of a number of these processes. I note that most appear to be launched by or related to .lgc files or logs in a folder labled C:\Windows\APPLOG file?
Note my computer now normally hasabout 31% free available resourses, rather than 85% so I do have low system resourses.

Many programs have an option under Tools, Options, or Preferences which allow you to specify that you don't want the program to start when Windows starts. For others, see this.

In Win98 go to Start, run, type msconfig.exe, then click on the startup tab, then uncheck what u don't need
Also run scan disk + Disk Defrag after uninstalling anything u don't want.
