Socket error: 8197 after XP Service Pack 1

The Hotsync Manager for my Palm Desktop shows the message "Socket error: 8197" at start-up and every time I configure it. This began happening after I had to repair my XP installation. I have even re-installed the Service Pack 1 and the error is still there. According to Palm, this may be due to corruption in the the socket files in my Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP.

My Palm Desktop is working, but is there a way to get rid of this error message?

Denton_Fihnn,

Thanks for using the Dell Community Forum.

I'm sorry but it doesn't seem like this post is getting much attention.  I would recommend going to other sites such as http://www.google.com and see what you can find there.

I'll keep this message here and hopefully somebody will come along with some useful information.

No useful advice, but I am getting the same problem.  It's really annoying!
