Software problem~blue screen error message~Sonic Digital Media

Computer: Dell 4600
XP Home edition
Not quite one year old.

I have had alot of problems with my computer shuting down unexpectedly and a blue screen with an error message appearing. This has been happening for about the past 8 months. I have tried many things to resolve this situation to no avail. Dell tells me I have put on new software that is messing up the computer. Nothing new was ever loaded before these problems occured, just what I purchased in a bundle pack with the computer.
After alot of searching on this site and contacting Dell support this is what I have discovered:
The software that is causing the problem is the Sonic Digital Media (CD burning and media program) made by Fox Technologies.
I found this out by running a crash analysis program that I downloaded from Dell.
When I contacted Dell initially, I was told right off the bat that this was a software problem even though the Microsoft error reporter told me after the error report was completed that it was a RAM problem. Thus this is why I contacted Dell.
I have searched this site extensively to find out about the program listed under tfsnifs.sys and found out that there have been hundreds of customers of Dell with the same problem going back years.
And worst of all new customers like myself that sink alot of money into their computers are still sold the software in a bundle pack already loaded onto their computers with no backup CD's to reinstall the corrupted software. Evidently Dell knows about this software problem and continues to sell the faulty software to new customers.
I would just like to know if anyone has had satisfactory resolution of this software problem.
I was told by the Dell software support department that it would cost me an additional $99.00 to resolve this problem.
Why am I having to pay to fix a problem with software that I have already purchased, and evidently Dell knew was faulty to begin with?

I dont knof if it differs or is country specific. I have bought Dell ever since 1998 and I have ALWAYS recieved all discs eg. Win 2000/XP Pro/Office and all additional software. I simply would´nt buy a system without being sure to get all backup media for reinstallation. I live in sweden and here Dell are very generous with shipping original CD´s/Dvd´s with a brand new system.

Dockland:

Dell in Sweden is indeed "generous". Here in North America no software disks are provided, unless specifically ordered at time of purchase.

Taters 4 me:

You should contact Dell to send you all those backup disks, either by phone (Customer care), email, or Chat.  (See "Contact Us" at the bottom of the forum page.) If you are still within warranty, they likely will send them free.

Checking on different sites it appears that the tfsnifs.sys file is part of Sonic's Drive Letter Access (DLA). Some folk seem to have stopped the error by disabling DLA

My Computer -> right click on the DVD+RW device then choose - Properties > on the Drive Properties screen, click on the DLA tab > remove the check mark from Enable DLA on your drives" > click OK > Reboot.
