Some programs will not run

Question

Three software programs (Word Perfect, Norton Antivirus and Personal Health Journal)come up on the screen but then quickly disappear. My 'at work' IT guy says that it sounds like some of the Windows files are corrupted. I've run Ad-Aware & Spybot-Search and Destroy. Any suggestions appreciated.

I would add that a reboot between the uninstall and reinstall process can't hurt. If this doesn't fix these programs then I would suggest, after uninstalling the programs and rebooting (after each uninstall), to run this command from Start|Run:

sfc /scannow (note space)

Many times it takes a reinstall of the applications to get them working again.  Have you tried reinstalling any of them?
