Spybot not updating after install

Question

After installing Spybot, Spybot is not updating. I know im not alone found 2 others having the same problem in the Spybot forums, anyone in here who just installed Spybot and cant update

Hi lvhkyjr2.  If you are running a firewall, have you checked to see that you've allowed access to the Spybot application?

Well just formatted comp and havnt installed my firewall yet. Im trying to find out whats going on, theres 2 others having the same problem who installed Spybot today and cant install updates after installing Spybot.

Just to add, the select mirror option dosnt work , it stays at no mirror selected but when searching for updates im told no updates available and I just installed Spybot, guess ill have to wait and find out since im not alone with this problem who ever has installed Spybot today

Hi:

Spybot updates relatively infrequently-maybe
every week or two. Last was on Jan. 17.
If you downloaded S&D since then, you likely
have an up-to-date version already.

I have noticed, especially with this last update, that it can take a while to get to the download. I minimized to the bottom of the desktop, and went on to other email, etc. When I went back a short while later, the update had occured. Good luck

In the last couple of weeks, the European download sites have been problematic. Try selecting the Austr. site. Thie has been reported in other forums.

When you get to the page for update, run your mouse over no mirror selected and it should change. Use the down arrow and select EON.

I have not recently had a problem with updates for SpyBot using the US site.  It is a very slow process, however.  At one time, I thought this program was better than AdAware.  AdAware now is faster, updates often and seems to catch spys effectively.  I still use both, but SpyBot seldom has anything new to offer.

I would select another mirror but im not givin that option, it stays at 'no mirror selected',  the select mirror option dosnt open up.  Its gotta be something wrong with the install because theres a few others who downloaded Spybot yesterday who are having the same problem.

Look through the help pages that are included with Spybot.  There is an option to install updates from their support webpage.  There may be a Spybot forum.

Try uninstalling, then download and reinstall. You may have gotten a bad/corrupt download the first time.  Maybe a glitch, you have nothing to lose. Good luck.

Ya that seemed to work, works now.  Question though, Spybot can clean usage tracks, temp files ect.......?  Where is this option in the program

Open spybot and chose settings>file sets. Browes the application and become familiar with it. There are many options to explore.

Ok, looked around found it, but to add though I noticed under info & license it says Latest detection update: Wednesday, December 31,2003?  Theres been updates after that
