Started with error Missing NTLDR file...now BCupdate2 Utility missing
Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 320397 gives the fix and the workaround. I can get the workaround to work, but when I go to Microsoft about getting the fix (Bcupdate2 utility) I'm directed back to DELL, because Dell is the one that installed Windows XP!
So, does anyone know where one can get ahold of this utility program??? I couldn't find it among Dells documentation.
Thanks,

If NTLDR is truly missing you could try this first. Go to Start » Run and type in CMD [OK]. In the box that opens, enter the bold text below, one at a time to restore a good copy of the NTLDR file.
ren C:\NTLDR ntldrx [Enter]
If it is missing you'll get an error message that it couldn't be found. That's OK. Then enter:
copy /y C:\i386\NTLDR C:\ [Enter]
Here is a link to a UK site that has that file. I don't know if it is the correct file or not. If you do d/l it and run the exe., I would set up a restore point first (just in case):
