Steam.exe (main exception): Unable to load library Steam.dll

Woah, first actual New Post in a while.

Well here's my problem. I've had Steam for a while but recently had to unistall it because Counter-Strike wasn't working for some reason or another. I re-downloaded Steam and installed it. I ran the program and it would say checking for updates, etc. etc. but then have the error message:

Steam.exe (main exception): Unable to load library Steam.dll

I then preceded to reinstall it, redownload it from several different sites and then reinstall it, and repair it, but to no avail- the same error message has appeared.

I've searched the Valve forums and saw that there were a few posts on this error message, but none of them helped much at all.

I did see someone say to look for the Steam.dll file so I preceded to look in all the Valve/Steam folders, but could not locate it. I also ran a general search of my entire hard drive, but the search returned no finds.

Any help to this problem would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much.

Here's a post to my post in the Valve/Steam forums. I'm Inspiron2688, as you can probably guess : P. Thanks muchly.:

CSmith06,

Webzila has a steam.dll.

If this link does not take you to the search box, you will find the dlls listed under "Downloads" on the Webzila homepage.

When using the search, remember to insert steam.dll as one expression.
