I have an almost identical setup as yours - it's a new machine. I did the upgrade to Windows 7 and now the system doesn't see my DVD drive. I have searched everywhere and tried everything that has been suggested - nobody has a clear cut solution. I performed all of the suggestions in the Dell support page for this problem too and nada.
Did you experience Windows 7 not seeing your DVD drive?
I thought Windows 7 will automatically find most needed drivers. Is this correct? I'm curious about the drivers myself as I plan on doing a clean (custom) install.
