System Restore Issues

Got the laptop on Friday, installed some programs but then decided to do a system reset to factory using the USB recovery I created when first using the system, although the Dell Backup and Recovery program advised it should run from the HDD it just kept booting to Windows, unfortunately the USB also did not work, it runs through Restore your Computer, goes through Initialising, I skipped the Backup of my data, it passes Preparing your Harddrive, but failed on Restoring, process fail at 22%. At this point the system would not boot to windows and was completely unusable, I have tried everything I can to get the System Restore to work using all info found on here and other sites, nothing worked. It's lucky that I built my own PC as at least I had a window 8 disk so I could instal a fresh version of windows on it. First is there a way I can still get the system back to Factory or is it a case of wipe a the different partitions (6 of them) and just do a fresh install. If I did a fresh install can I reinstall the Dell system program's from the driver disk or at least from the website.

Hi mikeTe,

If a clean installation of Operaing system was done, the path to the recovery partition would be lost. So the factory reset would not work after clean installation of operating system.

Yes, you can download and install the latest drivers from the Dell Support site: http://dell.to/1179cGm

You may also use the “Drivers and Utilities disks to install the Dell drivers.

Awaiting your response!
