SystemToolsDailyTest
Dell Studio XPS W7 SP1. I had a bunch of tasks that came up with damaged images. I've managed to repair most all fairly easy. The oddball is/was SystemToolsDailyTest, a PCDr or pcrdcui.exe file. The default schedule for it is to run every 13 minutes for 93 days! Anybody know what it does and why anything needs to run every 13 minutes? I know that I can change the time.
Can anyone that has still has the OEM install of Windows, where their SystemToolsDailyTest file is located on their machine? On my machine it was the only task not located inside a folder. All others were in folders. I had to take ownership of the folders and files, delete them, create a new folder and import the task from a backup created earlier. I ended up creating a new folder for SystemToolsDailyTest because it errored when I tried to import it into the root stating that it or the folder already exsisted. I wasn't about to delete and recreate the whole Task folder!

Don't know why it's set to check every 13 min, but it checks Dell sites for updates to drivers, software, etc. and for problems with your system.

That's probably part of Dell Support Center. Best thing is uninstall it and then reinstall, assuming you really want and need it.

I just looked at the Dell Support Center and it doesn't list anything that can be scheduled. I does show things that I've "never" run though. SystemToolsDailyTest is one of about three scheduled tasks that appear to be from PCDr.

It's my understanding Dell Support Center was created by PC Doctor for Dell. So uninstall Support Center and see if the problem goes away.
You can always reinstall it again, if removing does/doesn't solve your problem.

I really don't have a problem with the task as I can disable/delete it but my question is, what does it do since the default setting is to run every 13 minutes?

I one time had a problem where my PC wouldn't go into sleep mode. I contacted Dell Support and the fix was to update my video drivers. I can't say for sure how long my Task Scheduler has been like this as I can only remember opening it once to look for a Task that kept waking up my PC.

Guess you have to leave it alone, if there are no problems and you don't want to uninstall Support Center.

I forgot to mention that it runs only for 93 days, IIRC. It must reset itself somehow. I've disabled it, so that's the end of it.
