Task manager not working
Hello,
I am experiencing a problem with the task manager when i do alt+crl+del it does not appear and if it does only for a split sec. Also sometimes little green grid boxes appear in my desktop toolbar. It seems that i have some programs that are always running and slowing down my comp but i do not know what they are (. The other problem i have is Installshield wizard is not working properly either it hangs when i try to install/uninstall items. Thanks for your time and any soulutions will be very appreciated.
Thanks, John
P.S. I have already used AD-aware and spybot to clean out my computer did disk check/ disk cleanup/ defrag but still can't find the running program/s .

Are you able to open MSCONFIG or REGEDIT in the Run box?

Disk Cleanup is good to run but there are folders it misses when it comes to deleting temp files. First you need to unhide hidden files and folders(Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, View)
Then open Windows Explorer, go to C:\Documents and Settings\< >\local settings. In this folder is a temp and temporary internet files folder. Disk Cleanup usually won't empty out these folders and since they are hidden by default you can easily overlook them. Try cleaning that out and see if it helps
