The system has recovered from a serious error
I am at my wits end with this computer. Everyday several times a day my computer will just turn black and restart itself and when it boots back up it says that it has recovered from a serious error. I have no clue and apparently neither does the people I had to pay to try to fix it. They said it had some bad memory and took out one of the memory cards, leaving me with 256mb. Supposedly the problem was fixed according to them. Well its not! I am not a computer genius and I went as far as trying to reinstall the windows XP...but that didn't work either because it said the version on the computer was newer (sp2) that what was on the disk (windows XP) I have uninstalled every unnecessary program that I could; games, printer, digital camera software. I have cleaned out my pictures, my music, and my documents. I have run spyware, antivirus and every other tool I have and there is no virus or spyware on the computer. There has to be SOMETHING wrong with it or it wouldn't just shut down no warning. I'm suprised that I have got this typed. Yesterday, everytime I would try to download something from Microsoft or dell and I would click the install button, it would automatically shut down. I GIVE UP!!! Sorry that this is sooo long, but there has to be someone out there that can help. Thanks so much, any help is appreciated.

Use Dell PC Restore instead of reinstalling XP.
But if you don't have the Dell PC Restore feature or you prefer to reinstall XP, click here for instructions.

Don't forget to backup your personal data before using the Symantec Utility.

Again, use http://www.djdenham.com/Install%20Procedures.htm#Install as a guide for reinstalling XP.
I suggest that you first download and run the free program Belarc Advisor. Print the Belarc Advisor report and use that as a reference when downloading drivers for specific hardware installed in your system. The drivers for your Dimesion 2400 can be downloaded here.
