Trying to reinstall Windows XP MCE

Question

while the setup was copying files i had no option to skip files if i tried to retry it nothin happens so when it restars to continue set up it cannotcontnue because it wants to find something that isnt on the CD and the following error messages appear: SXS .DLL: Syntex error in manifest or policy file 'E:\1386 \asms\1000\MSFT\WINDOWS\GDIPLUS\GDIPLUS.MA' on line 4 I am using the CD supplied by dell but no use, it doesnt do what its meant to!? it keeps askin for the 1386 and an 'asms'   ive looked around the net and no such luck in the resolutions offered, any help please!?

If setup could not copy many files, try testing the RAM

If you have more than one stick of RAM (256MB or more) swap them over or take one out and try again with only stick #1. If it does not help or makes things worse swap the sticks and try again with only stick #2. This will identify if you have a bad stick.

You can put either of these free programs on a floppy and test the RAM

If it is only asms which is missing

It could be a faulty CD. You could try cleaning it, but if it does not work phone Dell and tell them the error message and say that you believe it means the CD is faulty.
