Unblocking Outlook Attachments

I have read all the emails regarding this matter.  I have downlaoded the COM add on but I have not done the change to the registry -- I am afraid I will compromise my computer.  My problem is that I just started having this problem 3 days ago.  I receive daily rate sheets in PDF format.  I can no longer open them.  I can't even open MS Word documents.  Thus, this leads me to believe that there is something else affecting my download capabilities.

I have Outlook 2003.  Can anyone help me?  I have spent more time on this than I care to admit.  And I consider myself a techie who enjoys this kind of stuff!

Can't open is not the same as blocked.  Blocked means you can't get to it.  Can't open means you click on it and can't open it.  Which is it?

If what you want is to open attachments that Outlook is restricting access to, then click on this link.

If you go into Outlook's help and search for: Attachment file types blocked by Outlook you'll see the extensions that are blocked by default.

In step 5, you include the file extensions that you want Outlook to allow.

Read the instructions carefully. You are telling Outlook to ignore one of its own security measures.

In Outlook 2003 for step 2 use key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Security

I highlighted the difference in blue.
