Uninstall/reinstall Outlook Express

I partially installed Outlook Express as my mail program. The installation dialog window asked for codes I didn't understand, relating to POP3 and SMTP, so I cancelled the installation and remained with Comcast Webmail as my email program. But now I get messages like "Unable to connect" mentioning that POP3 thing, and also it says "You have four unsent messages, do you want to send them now?" And if I say yes, then I get that POP3 thing again. I don't know what the messages are. CAN I EASILY UNINSTALL/REINSTALL OUTLOOK EXPRESS? I went to Microsoft Knowledge Base and they offered a solution that I printed out but it is way over my head with references to all sorts of upper-lever hardware lingo, using REGEDIT and all that. There must be a simple method!

Read this and see if it explains POP3 and SMTP.

Outlook Express is part of Windows and you cannot uninstall it. Comcast has a help page that can give you the necessary settings, but until you do, close Outlook Express and do not allow it to start up automatically. http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/index.jsp?faq=EmailOutlook_Express17686

Not 100% positive here, but I'll try......

Open Outlook Express
Click " tools "  ( way up topon the toolbar )
Click " accounts ";    click " properties ";   click the " general " tab  and enter your name and e-mail address, and also put a check-mark in the box that says  " include this account when recieving mail ...  ...  .. '

Now click  " servers "   tab.     Where it says.. " my incoming mail server is a POP 3 server "
where it says ...   my incoming mail ( POP 3 )  is a .  .....   make sure you type  POP-3 in that box

where it says ...    Incoming mail  ( POP 3 ); make sure you type   " mail.comcast.net "  ( without the ditto marks..)

where it says outgoing mail ( smtp ) ...    make sure you type.. " smtp.comcast.net "

Next, enter the account name.  and your password..    Also make sure you put a check that check-box so it remembers your password.  that way it wont hound you for the password every time you open Outlook Express.

I think that is all the required info...   I hope I didn't leave anything out; this is the first time I am helping somebody set up a e-mail acct.   Hope I helped a bit !!   Let me know please...

Also, if anyone reading this notices that I forgot something, please mention it ...    Take care; hope this works for you..
