Updating Problems

I have Win ME on a  Dimension L series and have severe problems with Windows Update and Norton Virus updates.

 

1.  A few weeks ago I received a notice from Windows Automatic Update that there was an update available (KB888113); I ran the installation and received a message that installation was successful. Since then I have received a message every 2 days about the same update and go through the same process.  I have immediately run AU again and there is the same update available as if I had never installed it!

 

2.  Also, Norton Virus updates will not install through LiveUpdate.  I have to use the Intelligent Updater on the Norton website to manually install updates.  These updates do actually install and I am not reminded again until new ones are available.

 

I have owned this computer with Win Me since Sep 2000 and have never had these problems until recently.  Virus updates always ran automatically in the background and Win updates always "took".
