Using Dell Media Direct with Windows 7
Ok, I've spent the past 2 hours looking for some information on this. I have been using Windows 7 for the past 6 months or so with my Dell Inspiron 1525. With this, I formatted the HD completely, removing any partitions with it to have a completely clean install.
Now, I don't know too much about Media Direct, as I never used it when I originally had it on this laptop. What I do know is that if I want to use Media Direct on this PC I'll have to reformat once again(which isn't a problem at all) but I would like to know if it will work with Windows 7 being the ONLY O/S on the computer? I realize I will have to install Media Direct prior to installing the O/S, but will it work with Windows 7?
If anyone could provide any information with this it would be greatly appreciated. Also if any of the information I have posted is incorrect please inform me aswell. As I said before, I never used Media Direct and know little to nothing about it, so anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for any information you can provide.

Yes it will work. I set it up on my Inspiron 1720 back when Windows 7 was in Beta before the RC. I never used it so I did not install it with RC.

I have an Inspiron 1720 that's running windows vista 32-bit. I really want to upgrade to windows 7 64-bit. Will MediaDirect be compatible with it along with the Blu-Ray functionality?

Where should i start on this can of worms. you only need to do the formatting IF you want to use the media direct feature without booting the PC, if you expore the drive, you should see a media direct folder with the program file. That being said, does it work on windows 7? about asm uch as it worked in vista. By that i mean that it will play DVDs without a problem, its the blu-rays that will give you a problem. If youexamin these forums you will see the issues that happen with Media Direct and the outdated drive they sell. Maybe they have changed the drives, but if you have a matshita drive prepare for headaches. When i first installed it,there was not an issue, been running fine for 6 months and even before with theRC. Something happend where it will no longer recognize blu-rays. I had the same issue with a vista install originally but managed t get it to work after several re-installs. This time it is no longer working. So far i emailed tech spport, they said change region code and perform update. Incredibly it worked... for one day. I did the online chat, they say run BD advisor and it once again worked for a day, but thats as far as i got. final advice was to re-install vista and see if it happens or call in for paid support, even though i have extended waranty. ill keep trying to get it to work, i am not looking forward to erasing drive and putting visa back on.

Thanks a lot for this post -- I've been waiting a while for someone to comment. I guess I'll just stick with Vista until I'm ready for another computer.
By the way, I have a Matshita UJ-110 BD drive, and it works just fine on my computer.. Although, MediaDirect is really slow to run.
