VPN vs Remote Desktop WEB connection

I have a local computer here in NJ, and a remote computer in Mass.  I want to be able to connect to the NJ computer by using the Mass computer.   The Mass computer is connected via 56k modem and is running and old OS.  The NJ computer is running cable modem and windows XP pro.   I thought of using a VPN but the NJ computer doesn't have a phone line connected to it.  So, I thought of using the Remote desktop WEB connection to connect from the Mass computer to the NJ computer.

I have already setup Internet Information services and setup the tsweb.

Is this possible?  Is there a better way?

Sounds like an MCSE question, haha

thanks for the help!

What OS is the Mass computer running?  RDC is only available to run on 2K and XP I believe.  I do the same thing with my server instead of running a VPN connection, mainly becasue it was easier to set up and with mapped drives, I can talk to my entire LAN.
