Vista Log in Issues

I've just bought my first dell a couple of weeks ago and totally thrilled with my machine, last night though I suffered an issue I've not come across before and not sure how to resolve.

I have two user profiles set up, my own and a guest profile. I logged off my own profile yesterday eve, shut down and left the laptop switched off for a couple of hours. I went to log on again later in the evening, clicking on to the tab to log on to my profile - typed in my password and the computer started to think about logging me in, the laptop couldn't log me in but gave me a message saying "The User Profile Service service failed the logon user profile cannot be loaded".

Now I'm unable to log in to my profile, everytime I do I get the above message, thankfully I have the guest profile set up that I can use but I find it a little frustrating that I cannot use my profile.

Hoping someone else has come across this issue or know whats happened and how to resolve.

P.s. As a note, something else I've noticed, what is the point in having a guest profile if I can still access all the files I have created under my usual profile - am I missing the point with it?
