What are ASPI drivers for? Do I need them??

Question

I burn CD's and DVD's without any problems using Nero. I installled a software that checked for ASPI drivers installation and the check reported ASPI drivers not installed. Do I need to install them? Or will it mess up my system? Thanks.

The basic answer is NO, since all is working! New software takes advantage of XP's built in abilities and they are no longer needed.

Prior to XP, aspi was much like a snipe hunt. Old habits die slowly.
